International Children's Digital Library

Surfing on the web I found this great website: International Children's Digital Library, a digital library of outstanding children's books from around the world
The mission of the International Children's Digital Library Foundation (ICDL Foundation) is to support the world's children in becoming effective members of the global community - who exhibit tolerance and respect for diverse cultures, languages and ideas -- by making the best in children's literature available online free of charge.
A fundamental principle of the Foundation is that children and their families deserve to have access to the books of their culture, as well as the majority culture, regardless of where they live. That's why the ICDL collection includes as of today 4431 books in 54 languages (Afrikaans, Amharic, Arabic, Catalan, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Croatian, Danish, Dari, Dutch, English, Filipino / Tagalog, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Khmer, Kinyarwanda, Korean, Latin, Macedonian, Malay, Malay (Jawi), Maltese, Maori, Mongolian, Niuean, Norwegian, Pashto, Persian / Farsi, Polish, Portuguese, Quechua, Rarotongan / Cook Island Maori, Romanian, Russian, Samoan, Serbian, Shona, Sinhalese, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tongan, Turkish, Vietnamese, Yiddish).
You can start from the Simple search page and wander around.
Or, with Advanced search, you can select 2000s AND Five Star Rating. I found 16 books and I enjoyed reading Taming the taniwha by Tim Tipene: you can choose between English or Maori!
Registering (which is optional) entitles you to return to the last page you were reading and save your favorite books in a personal bookshelf. You should go for it seen that they don't even ask for an email address...
